Our stud took Honey Crème (Dun) and celtic Manxie (red and horned) to show the red and Dun colours and what Dexter horns look like as most breeders remove horns when the calves are very little for the safety of people and the other animals. The black bull and heifer and cows and calves belong to Barraminning and Millview studs who are all part of the South West Western Australia Dexter Promotion Group.
Just a few photos from the Balingup Small Farms Field Day. We had a lovely day and while it rained for an hour on our trip down to Balingup it cleared when we arrived and unloaded and held all day until just after 3pm. Then the heavens opened as seen in the last picture. A bit scary with some very close thunder and lightning. Then a 4wd challenge for the exhibitors when leaving as the oval turned to a river of mud. We left the rain behind as we headed for home to a fantastic display of thunder clouds lit by the setting sun with intriguing windows of blue sky. I wished we had time to stop and capture the spectacle but we had animals to feed at home and our two on board were looking forward to getting home too. 2018 another great day at Balingup.
